Power of Words
We have the power in us, the Holy Spirit, to speak life or death into every person and situation in our lives. (Prov 18:21 - The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit. NIV) Our words can change lives. It is our choice whether we change them for the better or for the worst. Where we need to remember the truth of who we are, we also need to remember that the truth of who we are is also the truth of who everyone is. When we speak lies/negative words to or about others we give Satan an opportunity to destroy that person with our words. Speak blessings not curses. It is just as important how we speak of others, whether it be our husband, our children, our friends, our neighbors, our family, our co-workers, our employees or a stranger we see in the grocery store, as it is how we speak of ourselves. It is important to understand that when we hear and repeat gossip about others we are adding fuel to the fire, we are handing Satan tools to use against those we have spoken ill about. More importantly it is sin and we will all be held accountable for our words. (Matt 12:36 - But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. NIV)
Prayer for Blessings and not Curses
My dear, gracious, loving and forgiving Father,
Please forgive the words I have spoken to and about others. Father,
remove from Satan the power I have given him by speaking those
words. I renounce and break any cruse that has been sent out as a
reaction to my words. Replace those negative words with your truth
Father, words of love, truth and blessings to each and every
person. Lord, cause my mouth to be closed to lies and words of
death. Cause my mouth to be filled with words of encouragement,
love and blessings to all those I come in contact with.
Lord, I desire to be a vessel of truth, honor and edification of your children, including myself. Let your spirit cause me to see in others what you see in them and speak life into their life and my own.
In Jesus' name. AMEN
